Roofing, Siding & Construction in Concord, NC

The largest city in Cabarrus County, with a century of housing from the mill villages downtown to the neighborhoods around the speedway.

Concord is the county seat and largest city in Cabarrus County, about forty minutes from our office in Indian Trail via I-485 and I-85. It is the farthest we regularly travel, and it earns the drive because it has more kinds of work than anywhere else on our list: mill-era frame houses in the historic neighborhoods around downtown and the old textile villages; mid-century ranches ringing them; the large planned communities built since the late 1990s around Afton Village, Highway 73 and the speedway; and a commercial and light-industrial base that keeps growing along I-85.

That range means Concord jobs start with a conversation about which Concord you are in. A 1920s mill house on a crawl space needs decking and framing work under any new roof, and its wood siding may be worth repairing rather than replacing. A 2004 house off Highway 73 needs its first roof and has vinyl cracking on the sunny side. A small business on Church Street or Union Street may need an existing building adapted rather than a new one. We do all three, and we quote each honestly for what it is.

Building permits in Concord run through the city's own building inspections office rather than the county. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspections. Concord's historic districts have their own review for exterior changes on contributing houses, which we resolve in pre-construction.

What We Do Most in Concord

Roof Replacement, Old and New

On mill-era and mid-century houses we expect and price decking work, and we handle the chimneys and low-slope porch roofs those houses have. On the 2000s communities it is first-cycle replacement with architectural shingles, new underlayment and ventilation. Both get an itemized quote.

Siding Repair and Replacement

Wood siding worth saving is repaired and re-flashed; failed hardboard and brittle vinyl are replaced with fiber cement or engineered wood over new house wrap. Sheathing and framing behind it are repaired as part of the job.

Renovations and Additions

Bringing an older Concord house up to date without losing what makes it worth keeping, or finishing out a newer one. Kitchens, baths, second stories, porches. One contract, permitted through the city.

Commercial and Industrial

New light-industrial and commercial buildings along the I-85 corridor, and existing downtown buildings repurposed for new businesses, under the same design-build process we used on the Mint Hill brewery.

Everything else we do is on the services page.

Mill Houses and the Historic Core

Concord grew on textiles, and the mill villages and the neighborhoods around North Union Street left it with a stock of frame houses from the 1900s through the 1940s that are now some of the most sought-after in the county. They were built simply and well, and they reward a contractor who respects that: plank decking that needs care under a new roof, wood siding that is often worth repairing, framing that has been wet in places for decades. We look before we price, and the quote states the decking and framing allowances so the number does not move.

Contributing houses in the historic districts go through design review for exterior changes. Roofing in kind and siding repair in the original material usually pass; a change of material needs a case, and we help make it.

Afton Village, Highway 73 and the Speedway Side

The communities built since the late 1990s on the west and south sides of the city are a production-builder market like Harrisburg's: similar houses, similar materials, reaching the same milestones together. Builder-grade shingles from the early 2000s are at the end of their life, vinyl siding is cracking on the sunny elevations, and HOA architectural review applies to material and color changes. We supply the product data and samples the review needs and write quotes built to be compared with the neighbors'.

Along I-85 and around the speedway, Concord's commercial and light-industrial growth is steady. New buildings and repurposed ones both run through our design-build process: program and budget first, pre-construction, permit through the city, construction, close-out and certificate of occupancy.

Why Concord Homeowners Call Us

  • Old-house carpentry in scope. Decking, framing and siding repair on mill-era houses are our own trade, priced in the quote, not discovered later.
  • Permitted through the City of Concord. Every roof, addition and build goes through the city's inspections office and is signed off.
  • Residential and commercial. Houses, and the buildings businesses need, under one design-build process with one point of accountability.
  • Hablamos español. The owners run the jobs, and the office answers in English and Spanish.
